Project Description

CrossIron Mills

Entry 1 – Fashion Icon
Balzac, AB

This 62’ tall steel structure with LED accent lighting, was designed by JPRA Architecture and fabricated by F&D Scene Changes. The “Dancing Girl”, located outside the Fashion Entrance of Cross Iron Mills Mall in Balzac, AB, presented F&D with the unique challenge of maintaining a small foot print while ensuring the structural stiffness of the icon remained intact to avoid swaying in the prairie winds. The entire piece was fabricated and painted in our shop in SE Calgary. The Icon body was transported as two complete legs, bolted together and lifted into place in one day. The 4’ diameter stainless ball and skirt were bolted on over the following days.
