The Veil

East Village Celebration Square Urban Park – 4th Street and 7th Avenue SE Calgary

Located in the East Village of Calgary, CSquare Urban Park is an open and flexible space that is used year round by the public. A key element to this park is The Veil, which was fabricated and installed by F&D Scene Changes in 2015.

The Veil is an arrangement of 57 aluminum posts and illuminated perforated fins which have integrated LED lighting. At night, The Veil interacts with the adjacent LRT line by illuminating each fin as the C-train passes. During musical performances, the lights in each fin appear to ‘dance’ as they respond to changes in the decibels of the song.
